Is your cylinder meeting its full potential?
A hydraulic cylinder — often called a ram — is an expensive piece of equipment, and in many cases a proper repair is a practical alternative to buying new. RS Hydraulics Ltd repairs hydraulic cylinders in our Colchester workshop, working to restore performance and extend the life of your equipment.

This page sits alongside our Hydraulic Ram Repairs service. If you already know your ram type, that page lists the styles we work with. This page explains how a cylinder repair is assessed and carried out, so you know what to expect when you send a cylinder to us.
Our hydraulic cylinder repair process
Every repair starts with assessment. We inspect the cylinder, strip it down, clean the components, and identify worn or damaged parts. From there we advise on the best course of action — what can be salvaged, what needs replacing, and whether repair is the cost-effective route for that cylinder.
Worn parts are replaced, and where a part is no longer available, our precision engineering workshop can manufacture components to suit. Cylinders are then reassembled, inspected and tested, so the repaired unit is checked before it goes back into service.
Working with many different styles of hydraulic cylinder
We work with single acting and double acting cylinders, multi-stage and telescopic rams, tie-rod, hollow rod and trunnion rams, and bucket, boom and dipper rams, among others. Tell us the style and application of your cylinder when you enquire, and our team will advise on assessment and repair.
Supporting your hydraulic needs beyond repairs
Beyond cylinder repair, we supply new cylinders and rams, hose assemblies, fittings, seals, valves and hydraulic oils, and we offer precision machining and bespoke fabrication. That makes RS Hydraulics Ltd a one-stop shop for keeping a hydraulic system running, not just for a single repair.
